Pasquotank County Department of Social Services

The Pasquotank County Department of Social Services is dedicated to assisting individuals and families in need of basic economic support and to providing opportunities for those individuals to become self-reliant through provisions of supportive services.

We encourage the right to self-determination and strive to provide services in a responsive and compassionate manner while maintaining the dignity and integrity of the individual. Pasquotank Co. Department of Social Services Board Meetings are held the first non-holiday Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the Shared Conference Room at Pasquotank County Department of Social Services, 709 Roanoke Avenue, Elizabeth City, NC  27909. North Carolina Temporary Assistance for Needy Families State Plan Effective October 1, 2025 – September 2028 The NC Department of Health and Human Services will submit the North Carolina Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) State Plan to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. This draft plan covers the Federal Fiscal Years 2026 - 2028 and must be submitted by September 30, 2025, but no later than December 31, 2025. The plan will be available for public review and comment during the period of July 31, 2025 – September 14, 2025.

The TANF Block Grant is the major source of federal funding for a wide range of benefits, services, and activities to assist needy families with children. The TANF State Plan is required for North Carolina to receive TANF federal block grant funds. The State Plan describes major program provisions and outlines who is eligible, program participation requirements, and program benefits.
