Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Pasquotank County Library follows the Pasquotank County holiday schedule.

Please note, when a holiday falls on a Friday or Monday, the Pasquotank County Library will also be closed on the corresponding Saturday.

    Holiday Schedule

  • Library cards are free to any citizen who lives within the East Albemarle Regional Library System (Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, and Dare). Simply bring in a government-issued photo ID and fill out an application.

If your photo ID does not have your current address on it, you can show a recently received utility bill (addressed to you), voter registration card, vehicle registration, printed personal check, lease, etc. as proof of address.

Those under 18 need a parent/guardian to bring a photo ID and sign as their responsible party.

If you live outside of Camden, Dare, Currituck, or Pasquotank, there is a $15 out-of-region fee to set up a library card account.

  • All items, including books, DVDs, and sound recordings, can be found by searching the EARL online catalog. Also, please feel free to ask the Library Staff for assistance in locating the materials you need.

    Our Catalog

  • Holds can be placed by calling the library at visiting the circulation desk, calling during working hours, or by logging in to your account in the EARL online catalog.

Holds can be placed on items that are currently available or already checked out to another patron. Placing a hold will reserve your place in line for items that have been requested by multiple patrons. Patrons will receive a notification via phone or email when their holds are ready to be picked up.

  • To access your online account visit our online catalog and log in using your library card number and PIN. If you do not already know your PIN, call or visit the library during regular working hours.

Your online account will allow you to place holds, renew items, and view due dates remotely.

On Catalog page in the upper right

  • There is no limit to the number of books that can be checked out; however, we ask that each patron limit themselves to 12 DVDs at a time.

  • Yes, you can renew items at the circulation desk, by phone, or online, provided the items have not been requested by other patrons.

  • Overdue fines accrue at a rate of $.10 per day. There is a seven-day grace period before fines start accruing. After the grace period, fines begin accruing retroactively from the first day the item became overdue.

If you provide us with your e-mail address for notifications, you'll receive reminders before your materials become overdue.

  • Yes, you can place a hold on all circulating library materials within the East Albemarle Regional System. Other libraries in the East Albemarle Regional System consist of libraries in Dare (Manteo, Hatteras, and Kill Devil Hills), Currituck (Barco, Corolla, and Moyock), and Camden.

If the item is in our catalog, we can request that it be sent here for checkout. Once we notify you of the item's arrival, you'll have three business days to pick it up. Books arrive on Tuesdays and Fridays.

  • During library operating hours, please return materials to the circulation desk. You may return materials at any time in the Book Return in the front of the building or to the right of the main entrance. Materials may also be returned to any Library Branch in the EARL system.
